With extensive experience in industrial and intellectual property law, María Josefina leads the firm's team of professionals, who have dedicated their practice to this area for years under her direction and guidance.
Her specialization and experience in intellectual property are the result of more than 30 years of practice representing global multinational corporations as well as local brands.
She graduated from the Law School of the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo in 1991 and subsequently completed a Master's Degree in Intellectual Property at the John Marshall Law School (Chicago, Illinois) in 1993, becoming the first specialist with a degree in this area in the Dominican Republic.
After 18 years as co-director of the Industrial and Intellectual Property practice at Troncoso y Cáceres, she launched her own project in 2011, establishing Felix & Co., a boutique firm focused on Industrial Property. In July 2015, she accepted an offer to return to Troncoso y Cáceres, at that time as the firm's only specialist in Industrial and Intellectual Property, which she left in February 2019 to continue her professional practice at Felix & Co., the company she had established in 2011.
María taught Intellectual Property at the postgraduate level from 2010 to 2015, and Distinctive Signs in the Master's Degree in Industrial Property and New Technologies, both at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in Santo Domingo.
She is actively involved in the IP legal community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Dominican Intellectual Property Association (ADOPI), writing articles for publications such as La Gaceta Judicial and frequently speaking at IP seminars for students and professionals in both the public and private sectors.
She participated in the drafting of Law No. 20-00 on Industrial Property and its respective Implementing Regulations.
